slick

photos via fashion gone rouge featuring glimpses from july editorials: vouge nippon, esquire espana, and marie claire italia titled black summer. and indeed it is. gulf oil spill photographs via national geographic. the last picture is the rig itself deepwater horizon.

there are few things i care more about than fashion in this world. it seems to my horror as i get older i have become increasingly detached from them.

as a human being survival on this planet for our species requires biodiversity. we depend on genetic variety and richness to maintain life. our environment and other animal species play a crucial role in our own survival. without biodiversity all living things are vulnerable to rampant disease and the inability to adapt. multi billion dollar corporations (monsanto) genetically modify the earth's seeds patenting the very food we eat. they even patent the fornication of our planets bovine! meanwhile (bp) decimates the waters, marshes, and animals of our gulf. i fear the worst is yet to come with this catastrophe. the oil and methane now mixed with dispersants are filling the sea down to its bed. depleting the oxygen and poisoning everything with its toxicity. already imperiled from overfishing bluefin tuna are breeding in the gulf right now, this could be their end.

iucn states that one in four mammal species, one in eight bird species, and one in three amphibian species are on the verge of extinction. it is a black summer.  ill leave you with a cree prophecy. a

"when all the trees have been cut down, when all the animals have been hunted, when all the waters are polluted, when all the air is unsafe to breathe, only then will you discover you cannot eat money"
